A snapshot of what I'm working on, reading, and thinking about

Working on

  • This site. Finishing the remaining pages: contact, micro notes, and getting the overall structure right before writing more.
  • The Logistics Automator. A module inside the Operations Hub, specifically the carrier selection logic and how to handle edge cases without hardcoding every scenario.
  • A piece on ERP. Why ERP implementations fail in ways the implementation teams should have seen coming.

Reading

  • Chip War Better than the coverage suggested. The part on how the US export control regime actually works is worth the whole book.
  • The Economist On Indo-Pacific supply chain restructuring. Less useful as analysis, more useful as a tracker of which companies are actually moving and which are just issuing statements.

Thinking about

  • Transition costs. Most cost-reduction initiatives in supply chain underestimate them. The savings numbers are usually right. The timeline and friction are not.
  • Owning versus running. The difference between owning a process and running a tool that manages it. Organizations increasingly do the second while believing they're doing the first.

This is a now page, a concept worth knowing about if you don’t already.
